Hourly fee: $95 per hour. Time starts 15 minutes after I arrive at your site, and ends when we finish sawing. I subtract the time taken for lunch and any downtime due to equipment issues (not blade changes). I do not charge for the time that it takes to pack up the mill and equipment at the end of the day. There is a three-hour minimum charge.
The time that your logs will take to saw varies greatly depending on log size, log length, and your desired lumber sizes. Please call me and I will do my best to estimate the time.
Customer-provided help is required and shortens the time it takes to saw your logs. There is some manual labor involved in sawmilling; Logs must be rolled onto the loading arms, and boards and scraps must be carried from the mill. One helper is necessary and makes the biggest difference, but two is even better and allows me to keep sawing.
Blades: Normal blade-wear fee is $15 per blade. Assuming that your logs are clean and free of foreign objects, I will typically use 4-5 blades in a 6-8 hour day, dependent on the species of tree and time since the tree died or was felled. Logs can also have embedded foreign objects (metal from nails, screws, clotheslines, fences, signs, light fixtures, and rocks). Since a wood cutting blade gets damaged quickly upon striking metal or other embedded objects, a fee of $15-$30 (depending on if the blade can be re-sharpened or it is beyond repair, at my discretion) will be added if I encounter a foreign object.
Mileage: $1.50 per mile each way. See the "Distance To You" Page.
